Guide: How to care for your gloves and when to change them
At Rostaing, we manufacture high-quality, long-lasting gloves that are adapted to each individual's activity and job. By meeting the most stringent technical requirements in the design of our PPE, we guarantee their longevity. That's why we encourage our customers to choose a pair suited to their intended use with reference to EN388 standards and frequency of use. The two handsets allow you to to offer a glove whose longevity, and therefore protection for the user. However, they also need to take certain steps to keep them in good condition.
What are the recommendations for reducing glove wear?
For all protective gloves leather and fabric gloves, a little ritual should be observed after use:
Scrub to remove soil (especially leather gloves)
Rub with moisturizing cream or shoe polish (leather)
Wipe with a damp cloth (leather) or clean with soap and water (fabrics and coatings)
Grease if necessary (leather)
Allow to air dry.
Store in a dry place away from humidity, heat, light, etc., so that they retain all their qualities.
We place particular emphasis on moisturizing and lubricating the leather to help it retain its shape and strength:

As for fabric gloves, it is advisable to insist on washing them in lukewarm water. For gardening, ROSTAING has decided to put forward the FLOWER model... an all white glove! While this choice may initially frighten customers - an immaculate glove for gardening work was a daring move - it is above all motivated by the desire to limit the ecological impact of our production by leaving latex in its natural color. As a dealer, it is your responsibility to reassure the customer with the best cleaning advice.
When should I change my gloves?
And above all, how Rostaing makes them last longer. When EN388 protection is no longer guaranteed due to wear of the leather or the coating, Rostaing recommends the following products tips depending on the model:
The ONE4ALL model
The ONE4ALL glove features a wear indicator in the form of a honeycomb on a coating to check its state of use. When the glove no longer provides protection, the dimple is no longer visible.
The MAXGRIP glove
The MAXGRIP glove features picots on the palm and back. As this glove is ambidextrous, it's easy to turn it over when the dots are worn on one side, and slip it on on the other to regain all its qualities.
DURA1PRO and SOULDIER models
At Rostaing, we also know that the first area of wear on a glove is at the junction between the thumb and index finger. Gloves like the DURA1PRO and the SOULDIER offer specific reinforcement in this region.
The FOREST model
The same applies to tool handling. We know that a glove can be used for a long time on certain parts of the palm, and will wear more quickly on these areas. The FOREST glove for example, is reinforced with suede leather in the most heavily used areas, and lasts longer.Last but not least, the materials used to manufacture our gloves are all selected for their durability. ROSTAING leather gloves come with a 6-month warranty. Should your customer notice a defect, he/she can contact our after-sales service to request more information.
What are the standards for ultra-resistant gloves?
There is a whole range of standards in addition to EN 388, applicable according to the nature of the protective glove.
